If like me you can’t wait to try out Google Wave, you may want to take a look at something that has been online for months already. EtherPad is live collaboration in the webbrowser just like Google Wave does it, character by character. It’s centered just on documents, not on communication like Google Wave so it’s not a competitor but nice in it’s own way and worth a look to have something to do while waiting for Google Wave.
It also features syntax highlighting which is pretty neat because that means you can edit source code live with other people.
It’s free with premium services available. You don’t even need an account, just click on the big orange “Create new pad” button and a new document is created. Share the link with others and start writing the document together, live, just like in the Google Wave video.
